Canada has ordered a recall of three models of Broil King gas barbecues due to possible fire and burn hazards. The recall comes a day after the manufacturer, Onward Manufacturing Co., based in Waterloo, Ont., along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced a voluntary recall of the Signet, Sovereign and Sovereign XL series of the Broil King Gas Grills.

Onward Manufacturing says the bottom of the cook box that contains the burners can melt or crack as a result of a grease fire. The recall includes Signet series barbecues with model numbers starting with 986xxx, Sovereign series models with numbers starting with 987xxx, and Sovereign XL series models with numbers starting with 988xxx. Model numbers are located on the back panel of the grill. Models with these serial numbers were sold from February 2006 to April 2008. Owners of these models should contact Onward Manufacturing for a free repair kit.
