If you're around this weekend in the Big Apple and are craving for some mean barbecue come on down to Madison Square Park (20th and Madison) for the Annual Snapple Big Apple Barbecue Block Party. I missed it last year but I'm hoping to go this time around. The event is both Saturday and Sunday (June 7th and 8th) from 12 noon to 6pm. Here are the top 5 reasons you should attend:
1. 14 of the nation's top pitmasters will be cooking up Ribs, Brisket, and Pulled Pork Shoulder for you.
2. Smoked Crawfish and Okra Hush Puppies side dishes. Amazing!!
3. Peanut Butter Jelly Cupcakes, Double Chocolate Brownies, and Root Beer Floats for dessert.
4. Amazing seminars and cooking demos.
5. Great mix of Country, Soul, Rock, and New Orleans Funk live bands performing.
Each plate of barbecue costs $8. The side dishes are $4 and the desserts will set you back another $4 but for New Yorkers that's cheaper than walking through any street fair and this is quality stuff.
Last year the Block Party had over 120,000 guests but if it's as nice a weekend as they say I'm sure they'll blow that number out the door.
See you there!! Look for me...I'll be the one dribbling BBQ sauce down his chin.
