Tabletop Lighting the Practical Alternative to An Outdoor Fireplace

There is something I find quite tranquil about outdoor lighting on a warm summer’s night. As many will agree, there is something remarkable about the ambiance the right outdoor lighting can create as you relax on your patio or deck with friends or family. However, some people may want to enjoy the benefits of outdoor lighting without necessarily having to dedicate all your effort and attention tending to a fire. For those who apply, outdoor tabletop lighting may be a sufficient alternative. Outdoor tabletop lighting is a tremendous way to enhance the aesthetic appeal of your outdoor space and, due to the variety of available sizes, shapes and material, can be customized to compliment any backyard patio or deck.

When selecting an outdoor tabletop light fixture for your home, you must first question your own motive. These light fixtures can be decorative or utilitarian depending on your preference, so it is important to determine what your requisites are before selecting. For those who aren’t sure what they need exactly, a good idea might be to make a plan that provides for both ambient and task lighting. This means you can have some lights focusing upward and some downward in order to create a special ambiance that is both warm and inviting.

There are various outdoor lighting options, sure to fulfill the needs of any homeowner. Deck owners may enjoy fixtures they can mount on their deck and deck rails to illuminate the area, while others may prefer wall sconces or decorative chandeliers for that warm glow in addition to looking stylish. If you believe something portable would better suit your needs, both floor and tabletop style lamps are available that may be conveniently placed wherever you choose. I own the Kenroy Home Marianas Outdoor Table Lamp, and am very pleased with the way it compliments the rest of my outdoor décor.

Outdoor tabletop lighting is practical and appealing, and can prove to be a great alternative to the outdoor fireplace. These outdoor lighting fixtures can transform any outdoor space into a cozy area to unwind at the end of a long day, or to spend time with your friends and family.

Fire Pits – The Portable Outdoor Fireplace

When looking to add a charming outdoor fireplace to your backyard, deck, or patio, fire pits and chimineas are the favorites. They not only make interesting showpieces, but also work efficiently in terms of utility. When choosing an outdoor fireplace, many people face a dilemma about whether to go with a fire pit or a chiminea. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages, and either one can be a great addition to any home. Therefore, when choosing an outdoor fireplace, an individual must decide which fireplace option best fulfills their needs, and works best for their backyard, patio, or deck.

Both chimineas and fire pits can be used as patio heaters. However, chimineas have the fire inside their bowl, and because of the way they are made, you cannot have roaring fires inside them. The chiminea retains heat better, and provides a less smoky atmosphere than a fire pit, because the smoke rises up and is released through the chimney. With fire pits, there is no chimney, so the fire is open. As a result, fire pits can hold much larger fires than chimineas, but can get quite smoky. However, if you’re looking to recreate that open campfire feel, fire pits are a great choice. An example of a great fire pit is the Landmann Big Sky Fire Pit. It comes with an outdoor cooking grate, enabling owners to prepare any outdoor campfire meal, and the wildlife cutouts in the side glow to create a unique nighttime ambience. So whether you’re looking to recreate that outdoor camping experience, or just looking to spruce up your backyard or deck, an outdoor fireplace is a great investment.

For those who missed my article last week about chimineas, and are interested in learning more, I’ve provided the link for you here. Enjoy.

Have fire pit will party

Continuing the theme of yesterday's post I have to tell you about a party I attended this fall that was successfully extended into the night with the help of a fire pit. The leaves were just starting to fall and the sun was setting earlier each night. The friend whose party it was had just redone her patio and installed a new barbecue as well as purchasing the Landmann Copper Fire Pit with Spark Guard.

As the sun started to set and the temperature dropped we gathered firewood from the far corner of her yard and started the fire. What a beautiful setting. We all gathered around the fire and continued to eat and drink. To the pleasure of everyone I put myself in charge of managing the fire. It was wonderful. It brought me back to a simpler time as a child sitting around the campfire. It's times like these that I wish I lived in a house instead of a condo.

Entertain Outside All Winter Long

Gosh it's cold here today in the Northeast. Right now weather.com is saying it is 17 degrees but with the wind it feels like 4. This is the point in the winter when I start thinking about the summer. It is so much easier in the summer to get together, walk around the city, invite friends for dinner. Now all I feel like doing is curling up with a good book under a thick blanket and drinking some hot cocoa.

When I go into the city on days like this I try to map out my trip so I pass under as many hotel awnings as possible. The nice hotels have these amazing heat lamps installed in the overhang so their guests don't get cold waiting for a taxi or taking in a smoke. If you've ever wanted to have the luxury of entertaining outside in the middle of winter check out the Designers Edge Heat Zone Outdoor Patio Heater.

This patio heater comes with a die cast aluminum housing so it will not rust. It comes with a 12 foot cord and has a switch so that it can be installed in various locations. It has a 5000 hour Phillips Helen Gold Series heat lamp so unlike those other patio heaters you won't need to refuel. These things are so in demand we only have one left in stock but check back soon as we get these items in frequently.
